Poetry Broadsides

Designed a set of five poetry broadsides while working as an intern for Red Hen Press—a publishing house located in Pasadena, California. Historically, broadsides were used as posters to announce events as the use of the printing press and movable type became popular. Today, they are a fine art form to display poetry or occasionally prose. While some presses still print broadsides with a letterpress, Red Hen Press chooses to mimic the style of letterpress artwork and typography, while using laser printers. My role was to create the perfect combination of typography, layout, and graphic artwork that illustrated the theme of the text and were unique enough to stand alone but also work cohesively as a set.
